The Flying Ants Nationals at Mounts Bay Sailing Club 2012/13
A steamy day was forecast and only the seabreeze could moderate the temperature forecast of 39 deg.
And the seabreeze was struggling too.
It came wandering in from the west and really didn't build to any great extent. However it was enough to sail on.
Its a wonderful atmosphere, down at Mounts Bay and I introduced myself and was put on a mark boat with Steve and his assistant and we set off to capture the moment. With a good fleet for the fact that is was being held in WA there were 16 boats out there with interstate representation from NSW sailing on a borrowed boat ( I believe ).
Have a look at the images so far and remember that we still have a few more days and I will be in attendance for most of them.

Day Three ( New Years Eve)
Stinking hot with the mercury ready to hit 42+deg C at 1600 hrs. Jump on to Mark layer 3 with Steve and Reese and head on to the water with the breeze building from the West, may be 10 to 12 knots. A good day on the water.
Bang, right on time the R.O. had the Ist race under way and the breeze was starting to clock left with boat end slightly favoured. 4 individual OCS of which most made it back. The 2nd race was on a shortened course with a dying breeze, but gosh TCYC has a pair of winners on Rhinochaser. Hard to beat. Enjoy the images.

Day 4 the 2nd of January
Just made it down there and jumped onto the wing mark boat with Hamish and his merry team. As with all the mark boats, they had youngsters sailing and I had a new lot to concentrate on ........ The RO got the event under way on time, as usual and with a nice breeze filling in from the WSW (from my estimation) and he set a course that included windward/leeward with the usual triangle. Even the usual tail enders were encouraged by the breeze and were sailing really well and finally there was enough pressure for the heavier crews to work well with the result that a pair of bullets were awarded to " Hard Yakka ". A bit of a change from New Years Eve when the lighter boats got up. No matter, good sailing by all. This is the last set of images from PSP as their final race is a morning event and I will be elswhere. Many thanks to the WA President Lee Humphries and the Treasurer Christine Hunt and of course, the many and varied volunteers from Mounts Bay Sailing Club.
